Isolation coils are designed to permit single or multiple coax cables or multiconductor cables to be routed across the base insulator of a series fed tower. A typical application involves a winding a ½” foam Heliax for isolating the line from a tower sample loop in a directional AM array.
Kintronic supplies isolaton coils as stand alone weatherproofed units or as part of complete system designs. The isolation inductor may consist of one or more parallel windings of coaxial cable or elliptical waveguide, or it may be configured as a combination of coaxial and/or multi-conductor cables in a copper inductive winding.
The inductive reactance is designed to be either of sufficient magnitude to be of little effect on the tower impedance or a variable capacitor may be installed in parallel with the isolation inductor to anti-resonate it at the operating frequency.
