Kintronic in the North Pole

KJNP Standby Antenna

Kintronic recently supplied a custom AM/Medium Wave Balun to KJNP-AM 1170 kHz, beaming from the arctic outpost of North Pole, Alaska. KJNP is in the process of replacing their 425′ tower, which has been in place since they began broadcasting 50 years ago. They will use this AM/Medium Wave Balun from Kintronic to broadcast from their alternate standby inverted V antenna while the new tower is being installed. KJNP normally operates at a solid 50 kW transmitter power, but they’ve dialed back the power considerably to 4 kW while the tower replacement is underway this summer. Their listeners are as far away as Sweden, Finland, Eastern Russia and New Zealand, but they are primarily reaching the remotest parts of Alaska with the Christian Gospel while also serving as a tool for people to communicate with loved ones in remote villages who have no means of communication outside of radio.
