Unipole Skirt Kit For Installation On Grounded Tower

Kintronic Labs offers 3-wire or 6-wire folded unipole skirt antenna kits for guyed, self-supported or stand-alone pole structures for transmitter carrier power up to 100 KW.

Unipole skirts permit the use of grounded towers as AM/Medium Wave broadcast towers and are effective in raising the drive point impedance of electrically short towers. In the case of base-insulated towers, the addition of any higher frequency antennas to the tower requires an isocoupler or other isolating device to route the associated transmission line across the base insulator without significantly perturbing the AM operation. By using a grounded tower with a folded unipole kit, the need for isoloation devices, otherwise required for higher frequency antennas installation on a base insulated tower, is eliminated.

Kintronic has years of experience in unipole design, which coupled with a numeric modeling capability can provide solutions for grounded tower applications of all types. SKIRT-FED RADIATORS presented by Kintronic and duTreil, Lundin, and Rackley at the 1996 NAB Technical Sessions is available online, or by request.
